Mohini Balti House

I rang through to order a takeaway...simple you'd think...alas no! The chap who answers the phone was extremely inconvenienced by my calling him!...weird...I mentioned I would like to pay on my card only to be told 'the machine is busy...you'll have to wait ' I then had the audacity to ask how much! Again this inconvenienced him greatly...then I asked for itemised bill...you guessed it this was a real problem...I was told do you know how many orders I take? I'll put a menu in the bag and you can work it out yourself.....

You guessed it...I took my business elsewhere...I actually bought from ASIF opposite where the staff are very welcoming ( the only reason I tried Mohini is ASIF are so busy)

Good food and Ali is a great host. Just gets busy on weekends. The curry's are top notch, love it.

One of the best Curry houses in the country! I do a ten mile round trip for a curry. Dish for dish I can think of two that come close one in Birmingham, one in Manchester. You get superb service and excellent food. I have only found one dish that I do not like. I'd recommend the Red Chicken Balti for those who like milder Curries and the chicken chilli massala for those who like a bit more kick.

Lets start with a positive. Food is good and place seens reasonably clean.
Now the negatives,unfortunately there are many. ... waiter is very moody gives the impression he does not want to be there. Restaurant very small and 6 of us cramped into an area to small for comfort. Restaurant cold from door being constantly being opened for take outs. Soft drinks were flat complained and replaced with more flat drinks which is unforgivable. Replaced a second time. Staff always on phone so difficult to get their attention.
There are better restaurants out there and this one needs to have a rethink. Unhappy waiters and flat drinks will kill any business

Mohini Balti House is not a truly awful restaurant. The correct description would be incredibly mediocre. It has all the hallmarks of a local Balti House - friendly staff, cosy decor. What is really lacking is quality food. The chicken dish I had there was dry and unimaginative. The poppadoms weren't crisp enough, the lemonade flat. I could go on but the fundamentals were not good and if you can't get something like a Chicken Tikka right then there's an obvious problem. Mohini struck me as a local restaurant that seems to have a loyal clientele. I think they will find it difficult to attract new customers. I have been to worse restaurants and ones that were less welcoming and more expensive, but Mohini is a good example of why you should do some research before you invest your money and time on a night out to a restaurant. No one likes to be disappointed in the little spare time they have.

Couldn't disagree more with the last reviewer. Best value, quality and tasting curry in the whole area. The new decor had brought the whole place right up to date.

Mohini has been refurbished, it lovely well run. weekends need to book early gets busy.... management friendly good value for money potions good aswell.

I have had the worst curry ever the past 2 times from here. The latest one was so full of salt that it went into the bin after 1 mouthful. It used to be the best around but now I am looking further afield.
