Staying at the nearby SP34, my friend and I enjoyed walked through this small park on the way to explore the city. Gates that close in the evening guard the park and trails guide visitors past statues, trees and a small pond with a bridge with views of the city. It's a peaceful escape from the city.

A beautiful green park in a lovely city, I was able to walk the paths of the Ørstedsparken and enjoy the views of the lovely lake.
It was built after the old fortification ring was decommissioned in the 1870s and the section of the moat is now the lake at the center.
There are a number of statues and monuments in the park including politician and jurist Anders Sandøe Ørsted, and the physicist Hans Christian Ørsted. Several classical replicas of statues owned by Carl Jacobsen (Head of Carlsberg brewing) are also about.Helpful 13Thanks 0Love this 11Oh no 0 - Brian S.Warwick, USA25719922822612. sep. 2016
From
forts
to
parks
Back in the 1870s a series of fortifications were decommissioned in Copenhagen and the wise city leaders decided to build three public parks where the old forts were. One of these parks become the 16 acre Orstedsparken.
The park was opened in 1879 and even included some cool ponds made from the old moats of the fortifications. Loads of flowers and unusual trees as well as a whole lot of statues of famous people and various odd and bizarre objects.
The park is lovely and well used and visited by local folks and tourists alike. Lots of families can be seen playing and relaxing on the grassy areas by the ponds and the several walking paths are used all year long.
Unfortunately the park has received some bad publicity after some idiot radical bomber asshole tried to set off a bomb a while back and was captured in the park. Various other unfortunately incidents have taken place over the years but most of the crimes have occurred well after dark and were people involved in various nefarious activities. During the day the park is about as safe and friendly as anyplace could possible be.
An absolute lovely and stunning park that is a beautiful piece of nature in the rather bland and stoic central Copenhagen. The people back in the 1870s had the right idea when they decided a slice of nature would be a good use for some obsolete military fortifications.Helpful 29Thanks 0Love this 28Oh no 0 - Eva K.København S846945783. aug. 2015
Despite whatever you have heard about this park (and believe me you heard something ranging from ridiculous to nasty stuff), it's really an oasis in the middle of the city.
There's a reason why I love Copenhagen (although I must admit that I unfortunately don't go so much to parks), it is the fact that this city has so many great parks inside the city centrum. Take Nørreport st for example, the most busiest station ever in Copenhagen and it's still walking distance to three great parks (Kongens Have, Botanical Garden and Ørstedsparken).
Ørstedsparken is relatively small, but it has beautiful layout (big pond and bridge over it) that makes you just want to spread some blanket and have some picnic there. There's døgnnetto nearby so it's easy to get some eating supplies before going to the park. The size isn't that big either so it's easy to get in and get out again. Need a break between your busy day in Copenhagen? Take a chill pill here between the swans and the treesHelpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Alex B.København48338814. nov. 2015
This is hands-down one of my favorite central parks. The location is smack dab in the center of the city. The fall colors and reflections in the lake, which is protected from the wind, are absolutely stunning. In spring the tulip gardens which are swapped out regularly just above the old wrought iron bridge are also incredibly beautiful. The same flower beds are swapped out regularly throughout the winter and the remainder of the year ensuring they are always in bloom and full of color.

We wandered on this ny chance, walking down o HC Andersen blvd. As we were crossing the street we noticed the small entrace that immediately opened up into a large green with a lake. with the central bridge it almost looks like two lakes. Plenty of sun worshippers out on this day as it was 65 degrees F. Lots of cool statues hidden here and there with nature in full bloom and birds calling out on every corner. Certainly a great place to relax of you want a slow pace or just have nothing better to do than lounge.

Really beautiful park! Copenhagen is pretty grey and, at least directly around this park, didn't have a lot of trees or anything, so this was a nice contrast to the streets directly outside. My toddler loved running around and looking at the bridges and ducks.
