Au Vieux Chêne

Pretty good French restaurant. We got there at 8pm for a Tuesday night dinner right when it opened and by the time we left at 10pm it was completely full.

The food was very good, I had the seafood soup and the squab and my girlfriend had a beef dish and an apple tart.

Overall it was a solid meal, nothing too out of the ordinary, but overall it was a place I would go back to.

We caught them on a night where there were only two waitresses and it made for a lot of waiting. We sat for 30 min before getting our bread and bottle of wine (for me service is always more important than food). First round of charcuterie, salad and mushrooms was quite good. Second round not so much, steak was quite chewy, tuna and fava beans decent but pigeon inedible and wait staff was really struggling to keep it together. Biggest highlight was incredible values on a tight wine list with some older vintages (2007 and 2009) of great white and red burgundy.
