As one of the pubs local to my office the Gunmakers sees me fairly frequently. It is always crowded on a Thursday or Friday night, which says more than I can about the quality of the place. I prefer it in summer when you can spill out onto the road and annoy the Uber drivers trying to take a shortcut back to Marylebone high street.
The pub itself is a traditional style boozer, with a pub cat (which hates everyone and likes to make you open the door for it in the Winter) and TVs for the sport. If you want to have a drink and watch the sport whilst standing then this is the pub for you. If however you would like to sit down and watch the sport, or even have a chat, it is unlikely you will be able to get a seat.
The burgers are to die for. If you can get even a corner of a table where you can rest a plate I recommend them!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lena D.Redondo Beach, USA4320629. maj 2017
Our everyday to go Pub :)
I really like this place, typical British charm. The atmosphere is very casual, the staff is efficient and friendly. It's a great place for an after work drink.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jonathan E.New Orleans, USA4761192181417. nov. 2012
I first spotted this pub on a Sunday morning while shopping in the farmers market in the nearby parking lot/square. It looked formidable then (a couple of cannons out front), but I didn't go in. So when I happened to be walking by on a Friday evening, my arm didn't need twisting in order to explore.
At night there are a couple of roaring fires displays out front. Once you step in, there's a large room full of people sitting at tables, chatting and watching games on TV. The feeling is very wide-open and spacious. Halfway back is a bar packed with customers and in the far back is another nook that perfectly seats a group of about 15.
I didn't eat, but there seems to be a separate dining area (upstairs?). But I did have a drink and the staff were friendly, fast and the prices weren't bad. The decor is pub-like kitchy but also better curated. They seemed to be a lot of portraits of Churchill, whereby in one he's drinking at the bar here. There are also displays of armements in keeping with the gunmaker theme.
Having just come from an awkward social event at a tiny, compartmentalized pub - the open layout here was refreshing. It still gets tight but you don't feel like a sardine.
Overall, I'd be happy to come back for drinks. And I'm going to head back and try the food.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Agi K.London, Storbritannien141371353. mar. 2010Først til at anmelde
This is a nice pub with nice people. ..both the staff and the patrons.
I spent a good three to four hours sitting and drinking in a group and I hardly noticed the time go by. Its a good place to watch the rugby especially - the atmosphere is very civil.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - s g.Manhattan, USA554216. mar. 2011

I came here once to watch the footie.
They had a couple of big screens, and it was even possible to watch it from the terrace somehow, which was cool since the place was swarming.
they have loads of chairs but no sofas as far as i remeber. they also have benchs in the outside which is nice if any sun has showed up.
i drank one hoegarden and was pretty shocked when found out my change for a 5£ was 20p. Was that all about? 4,80 for a beer. I know it is a fancy one but that is over the roof.
Good and efficient staff, good range of beers, clean toliets, just don't ask for a Hoegarden.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Roger D.Dayton, USA0854425. sep. 2013
We stopped into this pub after shopping at the farmers market across the street. I really enjoyed all the patrons greeting each other by their first names. Clearly this is a regular pub for the old timers. There were several large televisions covering either cricket or an F1 race. The staff were friendly and attentive.
Enjoyed a Dark Star Hylde Blonde. Did not try the food, but the menu looked good.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mark S.Washington, DC, USA314236274. maj 2011
Went here for a friend's birthday - nice pub, a bit secluded, but what I was most impressed with was the food. Probably the best burger I've had in England so far. Get everything on it, and I mean everything - fried egg, bacon, mature English cheddar, onion rings - you won't be disappointed!

Seeking a quiet afternoon drink this place was a good find.
It has a pleasant old-fashioned atmosphere with all the usual dark wood, prints and decorations.
The normal youngsters serving with a touch of friendliness and a small smile.
Mixture of locals and businessmen.
Real ale drinkers will welcome Old Speckled Hen (at only 3 quid), Bombardier, Spitfire and Greene King.
Menu looked good, but I didn't look at prices, as I had no plan to eat.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
