Old Trafford in West Manchester is a most to see when visiting England. toke a bus from downtown Manchester to the Stadium it takes 15 to 25 minutes to get there. When I arrived I went to the stadium store, I payed to get into the museum and to do a stadium tour it cost me £30 pounds. when doing the tour the guide takes you to the Players lockers, VIP rooms, Pitch tunnel, and conference room. highly recommend to anyone not to miss this unique experience when visiting Manchester.

I've visited Old Trafford a fair number of times now, as an away fan supporting the blue half of Manchester. It's obviously a historic stadium, and one of the largest in the country with a capacity of just under 75,000, while it will always be second place compared to the Etihad Stadium for me, it isn't a bad second stadium to have in the city.
Obviously not to be confused with Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Stadium, which is located just down the road.
The transport links to the stadium are good with multiple Metrolink stops being a short walk away, the closest being Trafford Park on the Trafford line, but Old Trafford and Trafford Bar are both nearby, serving different lines on the network, so access from the city centre isn't too bad. There are obviously bus routes too, but with traffic and crowds, the tram is your best bet.
The view from the away end is generally pretty good, and the stewards seem friendly enough.
The stadium is showing its age in some parts, obviously missing a big screen to show replays, however, they do have the infamous scoreboard. It is beginning to look old and worn, it just feels rusty, especially in some of the public areas, sometimes I wonder if the stadium is surviving off the old, historic era and the name "Old Trafford", relying on the history rather than the stadium today, sadly apart from in terms of capacity it just can't compare to these modern arenas which Tottenham, Manchester City, Arsenal and co call home, even Anfield seems to be well better maintained.

Theatre of Dreams. Old Trafford.
Really a historical monument which I was lucky to have a season ticket for awhile, thanks to FAS & FAM help.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tim H.Laguna Hills, USA1202755473. dec. 2019
I am a life long fan so any review I do will be tainted by the fact they are the best club in the World and my family have had season tickets here for 40 years. In fact, we have our name on our seats just behind the away team dug out.
Take the tour, take in the atmosphere and breath the air. This is a very special place to visit.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 3. mar. 2019
I'll start by echoing our wonderful tour guide's advice and say that you should def try and come on a non-match day. Even avoid the day before and after a match day, if you can - less crowds.
The tour is AWESOME. I'm a huge football fan but not really a ManU supporter, which should tell you something. They simply do a bang up job of the tour AND the 3 floor museum. Really for 2 reasons: 1) they take you to every nook and cranny of the stadium (different stands, press room, director's lounge, changing rooms, tunnel, etc.) - our tour was roughly an hour and a quarter, and 2) our tour guide Danny had infectious enthusiasm and energy. He loves ManU, his job, yet he's not condescending - he wants you to love ManU too. (I know you generally can't request a specific guide, but maybe (?) worth asking?)
As much as I love Liverpool FC, I did their tour & museum as well and unfortunately it paled in comparison.
I was also impressed that they took the time and $ to develop a "flat tour" that allows those in wheelchairs to enjoy the majority of the experience. Smart and just a good thing to do.
All in all, a must-do in Manchester. Even if you don't like football, you'll find it fascinating.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jason H.Hermosa Beach, USA131461119519. feb. 2018
As a Man Utd fan this may seem partial, but this is an incredible place to watch a game of football.
After seeing games at White Hart Lane, Goodison Park, Bloomfield Road and now Old Trafford - there isnt any comparison to make.
Old Trafford is on a level above any other we have seen. From the crowd management, concessions, super store, facilities and how it is maintained - OT is likely similar to Anfield - just a place you need to see, a Man U fan, or not.
And if you are a fan, there is only one option - and it isnt in the field length seats. Its the Stretford End. Hearing and singing the songs, cheering with the truly rabid United fans is something I hope to do every year I am alive.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Michaela R.Prag, Tjekkiet5588714218. apr. 2017
This stands as a perfect example of what miracles look like. I'm not a Man fan, my heart is Bohemians green - but if Ďolíček looked like this, who would mind? :D
No queues - neither to get beer (well, a third for 4.5 pounds isn´t exactly a bargain), nor to get to a toilet. Neither at the entrance, nor at the exit. And one has a ringside seat anywhere. The sound resonates wonderfully :) What to add? This is a really perfect place for a football heart: D
The only minus: No data can be downloaded under the iron roof - with a little bit of luck you can just send a text message. :D
Jediné mínus: Pod touž železnou střechou tedy žádná data stahovat nejdou - při troše štěstí odeslat textovka :DHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Tom G.Bolton, Storbritannien46326120. maj 2016
I was there for the last game of the season (the one that actually got played) against Bournemouth. The ground is fantastic, massive and well located with excellent transport links.
Had to give this 5*. Turned up on a free ticket, patted down and checked with what can only be described as an electrified rounders bat, didn't get evacuated and we won. Excellent night out.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 7. maj 2015Opdateret anmeldelse
If you go to a Brazilian waxing shop for men, then all the chest hair of all the men is "united" on the floor and then swept away before being "united" again in the rubbish bin aka trash can. This is why the name of this team is "Manchesthair United."
This is one of my least favourite teams in the world, but I have to give credit where it is due and say that it is a classy organization in a wonderful city with a brilliant history, built on money that the club has earned by being successful.
I am penalizing them a star because I did not like Alex Ferguson, nor some of the tactics he employed, I don't think the man had a lot of class. But he was also the most successful manager in history so you have to give him props for that.
The club as a whole is a very classy club, even though a few of the fans are not.
The stadium is a palace and one of the great world stadiums.
Manchester United have won 20 league titles (two more than my beloved Liverpool), and 11 or 12 of those have been won since the last time Liverpool won one. They have won 3 European Cups to Liverpool's 5 (and this is a very sore spot). They are located close to Salford and I used to live a mile from the stadium or so.
This review is for the club, not the stadium. The stadium has a separate listing which I posted and reviewed, and all of the stadium-specific reviews here should be moved there if possible.
When I was a little kid I saw some Cup Winners Cup matches here and the atmosphere was great, but of course it's much bigger now. Not sure if the atmosphere is as good though. And by the way, who ate all the pies? Wayne Rooney did.Helpful 18Thanks 0Love this 23Oh no 05. maj 2015Tidligere anmeldelseOld Scaffold is a very dangerous rickety place. It could fall down at any time and injure the fans. I've no idea why they even still play matches here.
But in all seriousness, I severely dislike Manchester United, but I can't lie. Their stadium is an absolute palace. I prefer the stadium and atmosphere at Liverpool's Anfield, but if I'm being completely unbiased, I can't deny that Old Trafford is one of the world's best and most intense stadiums. It reminds me a lot of the Westfalenstadion in Dortmund (except the atmosphere is not as good).
First-Hand Experience: More info about my personal experience at this stadium - well I already mentioned some and will mention more, further down, but I used to live right next to this stadium. I've seen many games here, both as a kid when it was much smaller, and as a grown man now that it's been turned into a theater of dreams. I can't stand the team that plays here, and some of the fans are too full of themselves, but as a stadium... it's absolutely awe-inspiring.
Definitely one of the best stadiums I've ever been to, and been inside.
I've been to every significant stadium in UK & US, due to a lifelong obsession with travel, sport & especially footy (soccer to Americans). Born & raised in England, I followed Oxford United (hometown team) to stadia all over the country at away games, and later followed Liverpool (fave team) around. Every stadium review - like all my reviews - are based on first-hand personal experience, usually from multiple visits. In 2011, I was on music tour in the UK, visiting hundreds of stadiums for fun in my spare time. As recently as Fall 2014, when I was "stuck" in UK for 3 months, I went to most of them yet again while travelling. I have pictures of me at many of them, which I will post later. Also, when back in the UK I plan to take more pix, and add more stadia! So watch this space!
*** return to regular review ***
It's expanded rapidly through the years of success for United, currently with capacity of over 75k. It was built in 1909.
I used to live within walking distance of this stadium. Those were the days. My Uncle walked me to United v Legia Warsaw and United v Montpelier in the victorious Cup Winners' Cup campaign.
By the way, when in Manchester, try a Chicken Madras from Akbars, try Fish & Chips from Neil's Fryery on Langworthy Rd Salford (which is very close to Old Trafford), and most importantly try a Kobedeh Kebab from Rusholme Chippy.
