Traveled to Vienna with my dog for a week long vacation. The first morning we are there, my dog will not put any weight on her foot. Decided to call this vet office since there were more available open office times and it was close to my hotel. It turned out to be a blessing! They allowed me to come to the office immediately and saw us quickly. Dr. Rippel assessed that my dog had an infection in her foot and needed minor surgery to open the wound and flush out the area. They were able to provide everything in-house from blood work evaluation to giving me the meds I needed to take with me. I spent the entire afternoon at the office as my dog awoke from Anesthesia and the entire team was so caring and helpful. They wrapped my dog's foot and scheduled a follow-up appointment for Monday. Dr. Bettina Rippel-Rachlé was very helpful in giving me information on how to care for my dog over the weekend and numbers to call if I needed emergency care. They saw us for check ups and antibiotic shots everyday for the rest of our time there, the following week. I had arranged for doggy-day care so that I could explore Vienna that week, but was not able to take advantage of it, since it might be too much activity for my dog's injury. Instead the vet-team cared for her during the afternoon for a few hours, while I was able to enjoy my vacation. I'm not even sure if they typically board dogs, but they did in my case and I could tell when I picked her up that the staff had given her lots of love and attention. By the time we left Vienna, my dog was healed, walking up to her normal 5km and beyond and happy. My father has been a vet for 50 years in his own private practice and I've never know another practice that could compare to his quality, skill or compassion until having this experience in Vienna. I can't thank the Drs or the entire team enough for turning a very traumatic experience into feeling so blessed and grateful.

Great vet. Speaks excellent English and is very knowledgeable. I brought my rescue dog in for what I thought was kennel cough. I mean it was bad. I hadn't even had her for 24 hours and she trying to cough up a lung. She kept me up all night with worry. But one visit with Peter and she got antibiotics and anti-inflammatory stuff and cough medicine. She slept through the whole night nearly. Coughed a little but didn't cough anything up. Suffice to say I think both Meghan Barkle and me are big fans of Peter.
Word to the wise though bring a book and make sure you don't have a pressing appointment after. I made a 9:30 appointment, arrived at 9:26 and wasn't seen until 11:00. I kid you not. So make sure you have something to do and some time to burn.

      Waiting area isn't bad.

Great Vet for English speaking ex-pats! Staff is very friendly and helpful, and they all speak English very well. The bonus is that Dr. Peter Ripple is an outstanding vet. He spent a lot of time with our cat, and was very thorough. He actually picked up on something our vet at home had missed, and it was important. Clearly an experienced and thoughtful vet. We were very pleased to find this practice. I talked to other patients in his waiting room and they all had positive things to say. I would highly recommend this vet to anyone.

Dr. Peter Rippel has been the vet for my two cats since the day after I got them, and I can speak nothing but his praises. He's been kind and compassionate, and when one of my cats was sick (and had been so chronically) and I was leaving for the U.S. for almost a month, he assured me that he would take care of my cat as if it were his own.

Dr. Rippel and his staff, and Dr. Hannes Draxl, have all been great, and they remember me and my cats each time I visit. I've been very pleased with their services and recommend them to anyone looking for a vet in Vienna, and especially to people living in/around the Seventh District or needing an English-speaking vet.

Dr. Rippel and his team have been a godsend to us and our special needs kitty. She is a one-eyed Persian cat with allergies. They have operated on her in the past (Fixing the mistake of another Vets' eye surgery gone wrong.) She recently had a terrible outbreak of fleas due to travel and they gently took an entire afternoon to wash, medicate, and comb her. When I picked her up, she was happy and un-phased. These professionals really know what they are doing, and they do it lovingly.

Mostly, you will need to wait a while to see the doctor, because they take care to spend as much time as is necessary with each family. You should try and make an appointment, but if you don't get one, go and wait your turn with all the other locals.

They keep an amazing saltwater aquarium in their waiting room- but this too can get old if the wait gets too long. So, bring a book, (don't count on LTE or 3G, there is a a strange Bermuda Triangle of cell phone reception in those two blocks) and relax knowing that your furry friend is getting the best treatment Vienna has to offer.
