Specsavers Opticians

I am in Cheltenham on business and had my glasses break in half last night. I went to specsavers and they were extremely helpful and kind. They were able to take my lenses and put them into a new pair of frames in about 30 minutes saving me hundreds of dollars. I was not able to see the name of the employees that helped me but they were both very kind and went out of their way to help me.

On holiday from Canada, I ran out of contact lenses. I first tried an optician in a shopping centre at the further end of town and, while friendly enough, the process they described was complicated.

At Specsavers, the people made everything easy - eye test, here's a voucher to save over 50%, and all the tests are included in the £10; aftercare, we can waive the cost of that; appointments, we can do those one after the other; glasses, we can give you two for one at a price almost half of that of Canada. I highly recommend the chain and the people at the Cheltenham branch.

Usually use Cheltenham Boots Opticians gave Specsavers a try. Big mistake.I found the service very poor whether i was unlucky don't know but will not be returning
The Shop itself is large, Glasses well displayed and very good deals 2for the price of one etc.
But my first appointment I was kept waiting for 45 mins. The Gentleman Optician was rushed never acknowledge by name and only really barked one word ATTEMPT whenever i could not give a definate answer to tests.
The girl who fitted my glasses was pleasant enough but when I came to pick up the glasses a week later she had not got the measurements so they were not made(never though to phone me)...When finally got glasses lense fell out 2 days later.Back to Boots I think

I would not even give them one star if I could have done so.

Opticiitian himself was very, very good but glazing of glasses was extremely poor and I seriously object to this as they are mucking about with my eyesight.

Out of three ours of glasses - 1 for long distance and 2 for reading NONE of them are correct. They were never fitted and adjusted to my face when I collected them - I was just handed them. I went back and one pair of reading glasses were 2mm incorrect in the prescription within the lense. The girl checked it twice and then disappeared upstairs for 15 mins and then came back and said that they were not 2mm out!!!! I said they did not give me the correct vision and I was told to go away and try them for a week. I explained that within 48 hours I was off to States for 4 weeks and that I wanted them corrected. She said no so I said that I would have to through them away! She said it was up to me!! Other two pairs were not right so girl adjusted them but said that the frame was not to be straight against my face/eyebrow but had to be wonky to allow for the correct prescription. I have never heard such rubbish in my life.


Bottom line is that I have 1 pair of reading glasses where the prescription is wrong; another pair of reading glasses that are wonky on my face and with one lense far thicker than the other lense in the same frame and which looks like it is coming out of the frame, and a distance pair that fits just as bad as the reading ones and is also wonky all over my face and NONE of them fit but all keep falling down my nose.

Not bad service really is it Specsavers? 3 pairs of glasses, all of which look lopsided on my face, one lair with a thicker lense than any of the other lenses in all three pairs, and one pair where the prescription is completely wrong and I'm here in the USA and can't do anything about it.

Will NEVER go to Soecsavers again and will TELL EVERYONE I KNOW ABOUT MY TREATMENT AND ADVISE THEM NOT TO GO ANYWHERE NEAR SPECSAVERS.

Hi I had a really FAB experience at Specsavers in Cheltenham!! The eye test was on time and very efficient and the staff were all really friendly and helpfull. They advised me on all the options of prices of frames and lenses and didn't try to lead me to the most expensive. I was so impressed I booked a 2nd appointment for my 18 year old daughter and 2 weeks later we both have new specs, exactly what we wanted, with no hastle or invconvenience.

Not great. Booked a test, they managed to book it in for the wrong week. I didn't mind that so much, mistakes happen, but once I was in there, I was actually quite glad to be able to walk out without them messing with my eyes. The place was messy and didn't 'feel' clean. The staff were sloppy - untucked shirts and loose ties, ill-fitting clothes. I didn't like the way they talked to another customer while I was there - quite abrupt really.


I didn't want these people touching my eyes. I walked out, went over the road to a classier looking opticians called David Clulow and booked an eye test. It'll probably cost more, but think that will be money well spent.

I recently had my routine 2 year check here. The test was rushed and not as I have had at other opticians. I was prescribed reading glasses for the first time.. As soon as I tried them out when I got home I realised they were badly wrong. My eyes started to hurt after a couple of minutes, I started seeing double and everything was blurry when I took them off. I went back and explained and was given another appointment. The optometrist didn't know why I had come back. I noticed the testing equipment was repaired with sellotape. The test was short and I was given a different prescription. I was then asked to wait. I waited and waited. It seems that they had misplaced my notes and I was not in the queue. I asked if I could leave the glasses to be refitted. No, because they needed to take a payment! No way. Again I had to explain why I had come back. At this point I left, having decided my eyes were too precious to entrust to Specsavers.
