The Mucky Duck has recently been taken over, and I have to say, its looking rather fabulous!
It's an old style pub with a modern twist - cosy, comfy but funky at the same time. The art on the walls is provided by local artists and is available to purchase, or just to peruse if money is tight.
They offer a quiz night, an open mic night, and live bands and DJs on a Friday and Saturday night. Happy hour is 5-7, Monday to Friday.
Board games and Sunday papers are available to keep you occupied, plus there's free WiFi - ask at the bar for password.
The Sunday lunch menu offers a choice of chicken, lamb, beef and nut roast. Between myself and my friends, we tried three of the four options and all of us were very impressed. Large portions and really tasty food. My one complaint is that they charge extra for a Yorkshire pudding on all but the beef - come on, its only a bit of baked batter, chuck it on the plate for free!!
Looking at their menu, I don't think they are serving food throughout the week as yet, but I'm sure they will do shortly. Will definitely be back to try it out when they do.
PS Anyone who uses the line "enough of the wankery" on their website gets an extra star in my book!Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0 - Rob J.London, Storbritannien8610312. nov. 2015
Really great pub close to the sea front in Brighton. The roast dinner is one of the best I've had in Brighton, and definitely something to have on a Sunday. It's worth booking if you're looking to go mid afternoon and be careful if you're arriving late as they've run out of the beef on my two visits before this. A few great beers on tap too, so this is one of my favourites in Brighton.

Lovely little pub, tucked in between the madness of St. James Street and the sea front. A varied selection of ales and their roasts are superb. The people there are friendly and welcoming. The only real downside is that there's no decent outside space. Smokers have to stand in the street and the lack of garden makes it a bit of a muggy place in the heat of summer. But other than that can't fault it.

Great atmosphere with super friendly bar staff and a real mixed crowd of punters ranging from your characteristic old locals, to young, cheerful arty types.
The place feels like an old Jazz joint, candle-lit and cosy.
Good selection of draught beers, I'm always pleased when I see redstripe on tap! The barman with crazy curly hair, sports tie dyed t-shirts and goes by the name of 'Fish' can make a mean White Russian ;). If you're a whiskey fan they have a good range of unusual whiskeys to sample (or neck).
The food I've tried so far has been delicious and not too deer, had some very tasty crumpets with bovril, mustard and cheese if I remember correctly... Haven't had a main yet but I intend to very soon, I hear the roasts are really good.
They have a quiz night which looks like a barrel of laffs, apparently it includes an eating round which I'll be sure to smash.
Regularly has live music and Dj's - all been ace.
It has the tiniest little patio at the back for smokers, will only fit about 4 people!
Loo's are a bit grotty though, the locks don't work in the ladies unfortunately so they need to sort them.
All in all, one of the better pubs in Brighton.
