The Plough

I don't know that I would have found this place If not for my fondness of classic cars. Sitting south of Heathrow, the Plough is a bit off of the beaten path if you're visiting London, but near enough to the Brooklands Museum in Weybridge that it's well worth a visit if you're in the area.

The quality of the meal was fantastic. I ordered their petit filet with their creamed corn, a combination of corn, a touch of cream, spinach, onion and bacon that I'll make at home having tried it this way here. They butcher their own meat every day, and the filet was very tender, cooked as desired. The overall menu has something for everyone, and meat lovers are very likely to enjoy the options.

The restaurant itself was lively but not so loud that anyone was shouting... a very comfortable place to eat and enjoy company. It's also dog friendly.

I'll try to make it back again on the next trip through Heathrow... thoroughly enjoyed the meal.

Bit expensive for what you get. I had the spicy scisciLian lamb which was very tasty. The Malbec by the glass was great and I drank some twickenham brewery Naked ladies pale Ale - good. I give it only 3 instead of 4 because of the highe prices. Maybe I'm just not used to this part of the country. I'd go back.

It is OK food etc - but not as good as tigerbay glowingly suggests.

The L'Auberge restaurant used to occupy the far end of the pub in what looks to be an old barn. This closed in December 2008 and the whole building is now run as The Plough.
The space occupied by L'Auberge is still run as a restaurant and meals can also be eaten elsewhere in the inn. A new chef has been appointed but note he trained under Gordon Ramsey.. so don't expect bog standard pub grub. Service in the restaurant is much as before with individual tables and fresh bread served prior to you meal being ordered. Well kept real ales are available (for example Spitfire and Hogs Back T.E.A.) and there is a good wine list. The food was well presented and of a good quality - I can recommend the mushrooms and the scallops (starters) and Chicken Supreme and the duck (main courses). The vegetables were also very good. It is still early days under the new ownership but if they keep up the good standard, the five star rating is justified.
Note the fixed price lunchtime menu still operates but Mondays to Thursdays only. They represent excellent value for money - £8.50 for two courses, £12.50 for three, but there is less choice of dishes than when before.

My wife and I popped in during the Autumn. The young manager was terrific and engaging. The food is genuinely excellent and well priced. We live in Cobham and have small kids and it seemed great for the kids too. Really nice place, though when we were there it was a little quiet.

Great pub, great food and excellent service. Have been there three times in the past couple of months and it has been consistently good. Went recently with a large group and found service great.
